The first settlement of the town had emerged probably in the Lugar do Calvário, the name of an old Via Sacra. In this same place there is still a rupestral sanctuary, today known as Park Abel Botelho, who was an important figure of Tabuaço distinguished as a diplomat and a writer.

The Romanesque origin of the Mother Church dates from the 14th century, whose signs are well perceptible in its façade, as well as in the chancel, although the temple had been rebuilt in the ends of the 17th century. Its façade is curious, due to the modest tower of two bells rise out of the frontal wall, on the left.

The church is dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição. A small market cross stands in the centre of the churchyard opposite to the Mother Church, perhaps in the same place of the old lost pillory. Santa Bárbara Chapel is leaned against the Cemetery, whose façade takes shelter from one galilé. The Chapel is supported by two pillars; the lateral walls have double neo-gothic windows.

S. Vicente Chapel is as modest as its furniture: there is a small altarpiece from the 17th century with a wooden picture of S. Vicente and his mother seated close to him, and a picture of the black Saint Prebenda (17th century) and a picture of Nossa Senhora with Jesus. This picture is called Santa Maria Romana.

In Tabuaço, there are vestiges of some manor houses, belongings of the noble families of the Concelho. For example, the manor house, the farm and Seclusion of Freixinho. These buildings had become the stage of the drama of Teresa and her family, who were the protagonists of a decaying social group in the turn of the century.

Jardim Conde Ferreira garden is set in an environment of harmonious tranquillity, where not even the strong presence of a Buçaco cedar is disturbing. Inside is, perfectly adequate, the Municipal Tourism Gallery, helpful space of information and fulfilling of diverse cultural events.
