Valença do Douro

Valença do Douro is located on the high bank of the Douro River in the northern extremity of the Concelho. It extends across high slopes that rush at Douro River, providing fascinating landscapes. A visit through these lands is always worth it. The vineyards are planted in schist, surrounded by trees on ledges, blossoming in a carpet of white flowers during the end of winter season.

Pelourinho de Valença

In the center of the old village, a Pillory still stands, close to the old Town Hall. We would like to also highlight the "Rabelos”.

Rabelos

“Grupo de Bombos de Valença", cheer up the streets whenever there is a party, marching with their colorful costumes to the beat of war.

The modern Mother Church is situated at the town entrance. The churchyard is a spectacular belvedere upon the Douro River.
