Sunglasses
-
Portugal is a sunny
country with uncommon luminosity.
Sunglasses protect your eyes not only
from the sun, but also from the insects,
dust and other flying objects that may
harm our visibility. Use transparent
lenses when the luminosity is weak,
orange lenses for cloudy days, dark
lenses for sunny days and mirrored
lenses for bright sunny days.
Backpack
-
A small backpack is important. In ityou
can bring some water, energy
bars, your documents, your mobile phone
…anything you would like. If you do not want
to bring your own backpack,
PortugalBike.Com can provide a small
backpack that you may use during the
tours.
Raincoat -
You
never know what the weather is going to
be like, especially if your holidays are
not in the summer. Portugal has a mild
Mediterranean climate, but it sometimes
rains. Bring a light raincoat with
several openings, so that your body’s
humidity may easily evaporate.
Camera
-
Bring your camera and register
the best moments experienced with
PortugalBike.Com. You will be able to
take incredible photos showing the most
beautiful and wonderful landscapes and
also the unique cultural aspects that
you will find in this sunny country that
is full of History.
Cycling Route
BTTour
If you want to have a wonderful time with your
Bicycle in Portugal, we suggest the following:
Protective Helmet -
The use of helmet
is compulsory in the PortugalBike Tours. You may
think it is not comfortable, especially during the
summer. ...But remember, it may SAVE YOUR LIFE!!
In fact, you may say it is your BODY-GUARD

Sunscreen -
Use sunscreen
whenever there is intense sun. Sunburns may have
irreversible effects in the long run. Avoid them!
In Portugal during the summer the sun is very hot. You should
use a sunscreen tfor UV protection,
according to the time of the year and the tone of
your skin. Use also a protective lipstick to
protect your lips both from the sun or cold.
Clothing -
Cotton clothes (such
as T-Shirts) absorb our transpiration and take a
long time to get dry, which makes our body cold.
Use jerseys made of lycra or any other fabric of
the sort that channels away moisture while
allowing maximum air flow and breathability. This
kind of clothing also dries fast when you wash it.
We also recommend that you bring several sets of
clothes, so that you can alternate for the
multiple-day tours.
Shorts -
Riding a bicycle
for several days may become uncomfortable. There
are special shorts for cycling that may help you
to comfortably ride a few more kilometres.
Gloves -
Wearing gloves
helps you avoid callousness and it also
protects your hands if you happen to fall. Bring
your gloves.
Shoes and
Pedals -
Hard-sole shoes are reccomended to ride a bicycle.
They avoid the lack of blood irrigation to the
areas in the sole of your foot. A good pair of
shoes together with a pair of clipless pedals will
enable you to ride more safely when descending and
will also help your pedalling to be more effective,
especially when going up a hill. PortugalBike.Com
can provide SPD pedals (Shimano) for your bicycle.

OTHER INFORMATION
Each participant must always have a backpack
carrying water, something to eat such as energy foods, documentation, some
important information (e.g. blood type, any
particular health detail, allergies, etc.), some money, and
above all joy and will to ride a bicycle!
PortugalBike.com tour guides will always carry a kit of
multi-use tools, spare inner tubes, patch kits, a
small pump, oil for the chain and a first-aid kit.
PortugalBike.Com rents Bicycles. Each
rented bicycle includes a protective helmet and a
small backpack. However, you may bring your own
protective helmet and backpack, if you prefer. If
you wish to bring your own bicycle, it must be in
excellent roadworthy condition. If you wish to
rent a bicycle and you are used to clipless pedals,
just let us know and we will assemble Shimano SPD
pedals to your bicycle. Our backup vehicle will
follow every tour and will meet us at certain
points of our tour (Guided Tours), prepare picnics
in the most incredible places and transport our
luggage from one place to another.
Note that the minimum number of participants for a
PortugalBike Tour is 2 persons and the maximum
number is 12. So, the sooner you book your tour,
the greater is your chance of actually participating
in a PortugalBike.Com Tour . Many participants
book their tours 3-6 months in advance; we will do
our best to confirm late bookings. Do not hesitate
to contact us
