Sumario
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Tabuaço. We are nestled in the most ancient demarcated region of the world – the Alto Douro Wine Region, where the well-known "Port Wine" is produced. We hope you find yourself fascinated with our landscape and culture, admirably and
uniquely combined here, as it was recently acknowledged by UNESCO.
Through careful descriptions and excellent photographs, this site presents some important aspects of our wild flora and fauna, our natural and humanised landscapes, our history as well as our traditions and our people's ways of living. We have opportunely started to create a network of pedestrian routes in our commune, now compiled in this Nature Guide. We look forward to being useful to all those who like to walk, to interpret nature and the rural world and, above all, all those who wish to know Tabuaço and the Douro.

Tabuaço, february 2004

The Mayor of Tabuaço,

Dr. José Carlos Pinto dos Santos
